WEATHER INFORMATION In case of inclement weather, a Catholic school will close based on the closing of the public school system in which the school resides (St. Francis resides in the Birmingham City system) or upon the recommendation of the local Emergency Management Agency Director. Therefore, if the Birmingham City Schools close, St. Francis Xavier School will close. This announcement will be made as soon as possible through the use of our RAPID ALERT System that calls you by telephone. The announce will also be sent to channels 6, 13, 33/40 or 42 and radio station WZZK (104.7 FM). When the threat of severe weather might require the closing of school during the day, stay abreast of reports and listen for announcements of school closings on the radio, TV and web page. PLEASE NOTE: As stated in the school handbook, under emergency drills, student s will not be dismissed during a tornado warning. If, at pick up, we are under a thunderstorm watch, or a tornado watch, please be prompt in picking up students and leaving school grounds.
